An astonishing number of veterans have returned from overseas duty in the last twenty years with respiratory problems. These range from those persistent coughs, aggravated asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and problems related to asbestos exposure. The dust in a military action environment can contain a remarkable range of lung irritants and toxins. COPD has a much higher rate of occurrence among veterans than among the general population.

Asbestos was a major cause of health problems for veterans of World War II and postwar vets that continued to use Navy vessels commissioned before 1970. GIs who were involved in motor pool work or building rehabilitation were in danger of similar exposure. Because the worst of the asbestos diseases, mesothelioma cancer, can lie dormant for over twenty years veterans who long ago completed their active service may yet develop this lethal asbestos cancer.

If you are a California veteran who is having respiratory problems you have a wide range of choices among the VA hospitals in California. There are nine major VA Healthcare facilities in the state

Legal Consultation

If you are diagnosed with an asbestos related health problem you should also have an experienced attorney who can make sure you are paid any compensation owed to you by the asbestos companies. See your doctor and then give us a call: or complete our short form across the page.
